Each class builds upon the last. Because different emotional intelligence (EI) principles are woven into each session, these classes are designed to be taken chronologically. Some exceptions may be allowed, so please contact us if you would like to discuss a tailored approach.

Virtual Video Sessions

Mind EQ offers live mindfulness sessions through Zoom or Google Hangouts that not only bring people together, but provide them with the same evidence based training we offer during in-person sessions. These sessions offer participants the most robust tools to bolster overall well-being and support emotional regulation. Corporate video sessions provide employees the freedom to dial in from wherever they may be. Often we’re told employees like the online sessions even more due to the privacy a virtual session can provide.

Mindfulness 101 (45 minutes)

Learn the basics of evidence-based mindfulness, meditation, and self awareness — the first skills of emotional intelligence (EI) training. Teams and individuals will learn to harness the power of their mind, allocate their attention, function better under demands, and skillfully navigate everyday stressors

45-minute session includes:

Mindfulness 102 (45 minutes)

Build upon the basics of mindfulness, meditation, and emotional intelligence (EI) training taught in Mindfulness 101. In this session, we introduce the 2nd and 3rd skills of emotional intelligence training, self-management and motivation. Participants will be introduced to the science of emotions and learn the skills to manage stressful emotions in their work and personal life. Teams and individuals will learn how to motivate themselves and others to generate creativity and drive strategic thinking and innovation, which creates meaningful and measurable change in organizations.

45-minute session includes:

  • The science of mindfulness and the 2nd and 3rd skills of EI training 
  • The EI skills of self management and motivation
  • The neuroscience of emotions: what happens to our brain under stress
  • Strategies for emotional regulation and creating psychological safety in the work environment

Mindfulness 103 (45 minutes)

Mindfulness 103 integrates the concepts from 101 and 102 with mindfulness as the foundation. In this session, we introduce the 4th and 5th emotional intelligence skills and focus on integration and leadership. Working within each company’s cultural norms and guiding principles, the concepts and practices introduced in this session will allow organizations and their teams to work better and more productively together. Employees will leave feeling inspired to do their best work with focus and integrity. 

45-minute session includes:

  • Scientific findings on mindfulness and emotional intelligence in support of the 4th and 5th skills of EI training
  • The EI skills of integration and leadership to improve well-being and performance   
  • Mindfulness and meditation practices for an inspired and productive work environment

Mindfulness Immersion (Three 50-minute sessions)

The Mindfulness Immersion is a robust and comprehensive program providing the greatest benefit and impact that Mind EQ offers, at the greatest value. It incorporates all of the elements of Mindfulness 101, 102, and 103. Participants will gain understanding, knowledge, and training in mindfulness, meditation, and the five skills of emotional intelligence (EI) training. On commencement of the program, participants will be provided with recommended readings, practices, and other evidence based resources.

Three 50-minute sessions each include:

  • The science and practice of mindfulness, meditation, emotional intelligence, and resilience (see above for specifics on each session)
  • 10-minute guided secular mindfulness meditation

Mindfulness & Resilience (50 minutes)

This resilience training explores the neuroscience of emotions, offering tools that will enable participants to calm their mind and body. Designed to assist individuals, teams, and leaders at all levels recover from challenges, participants will become stronger, wiser, and more optimistic both individually and as a group. Learning the principles of resilience allows us to break through barriers and provides the opportunity for meaningful change in both our personal and professional lives. The concepts and practices introduced in this session will offer tools for leaders and team members to innovate and work together in the midst of uncertainty and complexity.

The 50-minute session includes:

  • The science and principles of resilience and ways to incorporate in daily life
  • How mindfulness and meditation can help in managing strong emotions
  • Skills to stay calm with clarity and focus
  • How to work with stressors and develop and sustain an optimistic perspective

Continuing Practice (25-Minute Sessions)

These sessions are best after taking one of the above sessions. Suited for busy organizations who want a brief meditation or mindfulness presentation designed to help individuals and teams stay focused during busy times. 4 session minimum commitment

  • 25-minute evidence based guided meditation session and/or new mindfulness exercises during each session.
    Some organizations want less actual meditation and prefer learning more about mindfulness and it’s applications at work and in life. This is highly customizable.

Coaching Sessions For Leaders & Team Leads (60 minutes)

Designed for people managers and leadership at all levels. Theses sessions are highly customizable, but generally focus on evidence based mindfulness techniques and emotional intelligence training. The outcomes seen after participating in this training include boosted creativity, increased emotional regulation, stronger public speaking skills, improved communication skills, and an increase in empathy for both your colleagues and customers.

Lunchtime Mindfulness Session (40 minutes)

For busy organizations looking for an introductory session over lunch with a concise presentation, a brief meditation session, and closing Q&A

  • 30-minute intro on what mindfulness is, ways to practice in daily life along with the latest scientific findings. Includes time for Q&A.
  • 10-minute guided secular mindfulness meditation session. Often includes mindful eating exercises.

Glossary Of Terms

Mindfulness: The quality or state of being conscious or aware of something. OR “A mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations.” OR “Mindful awareness is paying attention to present moment experiences with openness, curiosity, and a willingness to be with what is occurring.” Note – One can practice mindfulness and not be participating in formal mindfulness meditation.

Mindfulness Meditation: The act of focusing attention on your body, physical sensations or any other sensations such as sound, smell etc. This form of meditation is often practiced in a seated position but walking is another widely used method.

Emotion: A natural instinctive state of mind deriving from one’s circumstances, mood, or relationships with others. OR An instinctive or intuitive feeling as distinguished from reasoning or knowledge. 

Emotional Quotient (EQ) / Emotional Intelligence (EI) – Is the capability of individuals to recognize their own emotions and those of others, discern between different feelings and label them appropriately, use emotional information to guide thinking and behavior, and manage and/or adjust emotions to adapt to environments or achieve one’s goal.

Resilience: Is the ability to adapt successfully in the face of stress and adversity

Leadership: Leadership is Influencing people to take action.  In the workplace, leadership is the art of getting work done through other people.  Leadership can be widely distributed within an organization – most everyone leads at some time or other, if not all the time.  And it’s highly situational: anyone might step forward to lead, given the right circumstances

Five Skills/Elements of Emotional Intelligence

  1. Self-Awareness: The ability to recognize and understand personal moods and emotions and drives, as well as their effect on others.
  2. Self-Management: The ability to control or redirect disruptive impulses and moods, and the propensity to suspend judgment and to think before acting
  3. Motivation: A passion to work for internal reasons that go beyond money and status -which are external rewards, – such as an inner vision of what is important in life, a joy in doing something, curiosity in learning, a flow that comes with being immersed in an activity. A propensity to pursue goals with energy and persistence.
  4. Empathy: Is the capacity to understand or feel what another person is experiencing from within their frame of reference, that is, the capacity to place oneself in another’s position. Empathy is typically associated with EI, because it relates to an individual connecting their personal experiences with those of others.
  5.  Social Skills: Proficiency in managing relationships and building networks, and an ability to find common ground and build rapport
